Hickenlooper Wins Reelection, Dominates in General Election
COLORADO – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the following video statement after he won his reelection to the U.S. Senate. His race was called in one minute after the polls closed.
“Today, Coloradans have once again delivered a clear message: Enough is enough!” said Hickenlooper. “Voters had a choice between more of President Trump’s relentless corruption and higher prices AND change. We the people chose change!”

Watch his full speech HERE.
“In 2024, Americans elected President Trump because he PROMISED to fight for the people who slip through the cracks. But, over the last two years, we’ve seen him turn the very ground Americans stand on into quicksand…
“The message we heard tonight is the same one we’ve heard day after day on the road: our fight doesn’t end with Trump. It’s where our fight begins again…
“Let’s be clear: We don’t just want to rebuild our system like it was. We want to rewrite our healthcare system, fix our tax code, and unrig our economy.
“Healthcare costs have far outpaced wages. Our economy only works if you’re well-connected and well-off, but leaves you behind if you’re not. We aren’t interested in just restringing our safety nets that Trump chopped to pieces. We want to build a strong floor. We want universal health coverage. We want the American dream to once again be within reach.”
Hickenlooper – who defeated Cory Gardner and flipped the Senate in 2020 – has stood up to Trump and his cruel attacks on Colorado. He helped stop Trump’s public lands sell off. He’s called out Trump’s violent immigration police. He has refused to fund ICE, shown up at ICE facilities for oversight visits, and helped Coloradans get released from ICE detention. Hickenlooper helped introduce legislation to force their agents to take off their masks and protect schools, hospitals, and places of worship from raids. He’s fought off Trump’s plans to give handouts to election criminals like Tina Peters from his $1.8 billion slush fund of taxpayer money.
Since being elected, Hickenlooper has also rolled up his sleeves to address climate change, bring down costs for Colorado families, and force corporations to pay their fair share. He helped negotiate and write the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the largest investment in fighting climate change – EVER! He secured billions for Colorado to make housing more attainable, lower the cost of drugs for seniors, address the Colorado River crisis, and fight wildfires.

“Today, Coloradans have once again delivered a clear message: Enough is enough!
“So far, voters turned out in huge numbers, not just in Colorado but across the country. Voters had a choice between more of President Trump’s relentless corruption and higher prices – AND change. We the people chose CHANGE!
“We voted to end President Trump’s lawlessness and cost-of-living emergency. More results from other races will filter in tonight but what’s already clear is that Americans overwhelmingly want an end to the cruelty and corruption of President Trump and his MAGA agenda.
“In 2024, Americans elected President Trump because he promised to fight for the people who slip through the cracks. But, over the last two years, we’ve seen him turn the very ground Americans stand on into quicksand.
“They dismantled our healthcare system and took health insurance from 240,000 Coloradans. Premiums doubled for too many families. All to pay for Trump’s trillion dollar tax cuts for the largest corporations and wealthiest friends of the president.
“President Trump entangled us into an illegal and costly war with Iran. Diesel, gas, and fertilizer prices continue to increase. Farmers, ranchers, firefighters: everyone is getting crushed.
“Under this administration, five million of our neighbors lost the assistance they rely on to put food on the table while the president’s family has ballooned their wealth by $4 billion.
“And nowhere is Trump’s lawlessness, and cruelty more apparent than with his secret police. ICE’s low-rent terrorism has shook our nation to the core. We’ve seen people shot in the streets and children locked away from their families.
“But, in the face of all of these attacks, our neighbors, friends, families have banded together, cared for each other, and reminded all of us what we’re fighting for.
“As it looks now, Americans have made their decision. The message we heard tonight is the same one we’ve heard day after day on the road: our fight doesn’t end with Trump. It’s where our fight begins again.
“Let’s be clear: We don’t just want to rebuild our system like it was.
“We want to rewrite our healthcare system, fix our tax code, and unrig our economy. Healthcare costs have far outpaced wages. Our economy only works if you’re well-connected and well-off, but leaves you behind if you’re not.
“We aren’t interested in just restringing our safety nets that Trump chopped down to pieces. We want to build a strong floor. We want universal health coverage. We want the American dream to once again be within reach.
“If Democrats win across the country and we take back the House and the Senate, we will unlock new oversight abilities to hold President Trump accountable.
“We’ll hold hearings and investigations into his corruption – hopefully ones that Republicans might join us. We’ll go after ICE’s cruel abuses. We’ll vote to reverse MAGA’s healthcare cuts, and work to lower costs.
“It isn’t lost on us that we’ll still face a Trump White House.
“No doubt they’ll spread lies and try to cheat their way out of losing. No question they’ll try to block, even veto our bills. But, we’re ready for them.
“We’re ready to take them on and to stop them – just like we did when they tried to sell our public lands and just like we did today.
“All the hard work that campaigns across the country put in is not just about taking back Congress this year, it’s about building the groundwork for kicking Trump and MAGA out of the White House — once and for all — in 2028.
“I want to end by saying thank you. Thank you to Coloradans for once again placing your trust in me and our team.
“Thank you to our amazing volunteers and our incredible staff who never took their foot off the gas.
“Most of all, I want to thank my family. Teddy, Jack, Robin – thank you for sacrificing our time together to let me serve Colorado. I will always be so grateful.
“Tonight we celebrate. Tomorrow we begin the real work of rebuilding this country.
“Thank you.”
